Partnership for Sustainable Packaging
The sustainable collaboration between Śnieżka and Jokey, an experienced manufacturer of plastic packaging, has been ongoing since 2022. It focuses on the use of recycled materials in modern packaging for decorative paints offered by Śnieżka. Through the integrated efforts of both companies, it is possible to combine high product quality with environmental responsibility—addressing the challenges of sustainable development and the circular economy.
Śnieżka and Jokey’s joint efforts were presented on June 11, 2025, during the Circular Solutions Exchange: Packaging, organized by the Polish Plastics Pact. The event, held under the slogan “Innovation is not theory, but practice,” served as a platform for sharing best practices and discussing how to effectively translate sustainability declarations into tangible actions.
During the roundtable session in the “Business Solutions” segment, representatives from Śnieżka and Jokey demonstrated how the cooperation process between the two companies works in practice. Using their joint decorative paint packaging project as a case study, they showed how product aesthetics can be combined with environmental responsibility.
Śnieżka uses packaging from the JCT-C series (model JCT 25C), produced by Jokey using technology that enables the incorporation of PCR (post-consumer recyclate). Approximately 70% of the material used to manufacture the bucket body comes from recycled plastics. Only the handle and lid are made from virgin plastic. As a result, the final packaging contains a minimum of 40% recycled content. This transition significantly reduces the use of virgin plastic and CO₂ emissions, while maintaining quality parameters of packaging made entirely from primary raw materials.
Thanks to the use of mono-materials, the packaging is 100% recyclable, while retaining full functionality and an attractive appearance. The “in-mould” labelling technology ensures durability and vibrant graphics, making the packaging visually appealing on store shelves. The partnership began with a single product and now encompasses seven product lines.
The use of recyclate aligns with current legislative requirements, including the proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which mandates increased use of recycled materials. This initiative also supports the Polish Circular Economy Agreement and advances the goals outlined in Śnieżka’s Sustainable Development Strategy, launched in early 2023. The use of recyclate-based packaging by Śnieżka proves that technological innovation can go hand in hand with ecological responsibility.
